Fælledparken, located in the Østerbro neighborhood of Copenhagen, is undergoing a major renovation thanks to a 154 million kroner ($ 27,000,000.00) donation from the AP Møller Foundation. Fælledparken is one of the larger parks in Copenhagen and is known for its wide open space, perfect for playing soccer, frisbee, grilling, etc.
One of my favorite features of the renovation is the new skatepark, designed by Nordarch. The skatepark is one of the largest in Northern Europe and fits beautifully into the landscape. Skateboarders have a difficult time finding space to practice, and the city of Copenhagen has created a top-notch skatepark for them to enjoy.
Constructed in concrete with a total of 55,000 square feet/ 4,600 square meters, the skatepark contains street areas, bowl areas, a vert ramp and a large seating/hang out area for spectators and visitors. Skateboarders seem to enjoy the park, every time I pass buy it’s buzzing with activity.

Summer has officially arrived here in Copenhagen Denmark! The sun is shining, the weather is warm and I have started wearing my favorite summer clothes!
With the heat I crave a crisp and refreshing salad (also no need to turn the oven on and heat things up even more!), this smoked salmon salad is so so easy to make and tastes like a gourmet salad from a nice cafe.
Crisp romaine serves as the bed for this salad to which I add cucumber, tomato, avocado, and succulent smoked salmon; the light and healthy yoghurt dill dressing is the perfect compliment to the veggies and salmon.
Yoghurt Dill Dressing
1. 3/4 cup fat free plain yoghurt (I use Irma’s promille yoghurt )
2. Juice from half a lemon
3. 4 tablespoons of dill dressing or 4 tablespoons fresh dill, 1 tablespoon honey and 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
4. Salt and pepper to taste
5. Mix the ingredients in a small bowl and enjoy!
Anne Sture Tucker has taken some beautiful photos with a little history lesson included from her morning run in Copenhagen, thanks Anne!
I grabbed the opportunity to join in the fun by running the 5k wordpress run. A brilliant idea by WordPress – you simply run/walk/skip/dance/jog/skate/ 5k wherever you are in this world and then you blog about it.
As some of you may know I am visiting Copenhagen, and what better way to breathe in my old city than by running through its beautiful streets? I long to see the little mermaid again – to give her a good morning kiss. I’m up and out by 7am – the only thing I forgot while planning this – a terrible jet-lag.
So off I go and this just proves that as soon as you get yourself out there it is amazing!! It’s absolutely fabulous – I have Copenhagen all to myself and the sun is rising, the air is fresh and not a person in the streets.
Right away, I meet this…
